About

Laura was raised in a small farming community in central Alberta, Canada.  Her dear late mama, a voracious reader, inspired her love for the written word and was so committed to ensuring her children had a steady supply of literature that she started the first library in their tiny village. Thanks to her, Laura became an avid book junkie and has remained one to this day.

She began her writing career as a lawyer, drafting briefs, legal opinions, and nasty letters. While still a lawyer in theory, in reality, Laura does everything but practice law. A travel, sports, and outdoor enthusiast, she has ridden her bike through the Pyrenees and across rural India and Southeast Asia; she’s crested the summit of Kilimanjaro and paddled over 700 kilometers on the Yukon River; she’s practiced yoga in Bali with her reluctant husband, trekked the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas and crossed the finish line in not one, but three Ironman Triathlon races. Yes, Laura knew these serial adventures would hurt, but she did them anyway. Crazy? Absolutely, but they provide fodder for great stories.

Her work (travel, arts & culture, and lifestyle articles) has been published in a number of regional magazines, and she’s documented some of her adventures in a travel blog, Away, eh!  Her latest and greatest passion, though, is writing fiction. Her current project-in-progress is a twisty murder mystery with a keep-you-guessing plot and yet another feisty female lawyer as its key character.

She is blessed to live and write immersed in the natural beauty of two very different but equally stunning locales: the Okanagan Valley in Western Canada and the Coachella Valley in California. Where you find her depends completely on the sunshine. Laura loves to laugh with her tribe of girlfriends, and nothing makes her happier than spending time in the great outdoors with her hubby and their mischievous and (occasionally) obedient Labradoodle.
